Embracing discomfort: psychological safety
Psychological safety is necessary in any workplace, including academic. Creating a vibrant and inspiring learning culture for yourself and your students is essential. Navigating daily interactions without fearing punishment for speaking up with ideas or criticism is crucial for sustainable academic work. This all sounds nice, but… how to make it work? How to feel comfortable being yourself when collaborating with others? Why and how to disarm serious challenges in a more fun and creative way? Let’s befriend the usual risks we are rarely taking!
This workshop is for you if you:
– think conflicts can destroy trust and relationships
– get caught up in analysis paralysis
– often have a desire to sweep disagreements under the rug – at and outside academic work
– have different ideas on how to move forward personally or at work, while also being frustrated by the inability of
others to see your point of view
– experience not being heard, seen, or respected
What will you learn:
– how to respond – in situations of uncertainty – in ways that do not overpromise or overcontrol
– improve listening, tuning, and empathy for yourself and among your colleagues and students
– different styles of conflict navigation – professionally and personally
– the importance of self-compassion and a growth mindset
When?
